NOTICE

Be advised that a couple of men may be stealing dogs in the area. They were spotted on the trail asking a dog walker questions, they had two dogs with them but when asked claimed they were "picking up dogs for the shelter" NOT: The ONLY person who picks up dogs for ANY shelter is the Bylaw Officer or SPCA officer. They would be either in uniform or have ID as well as the proper equipment.
There have been dogs missing from peoples back yards as well., one is a very young chocolate lab/black lab pup.
Recently a black with some white markings French Bulldog was stolen from a yard in town.

IF YOU SEE SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY CALL THE BYLAW OFFICER OR RCMP AND ALSO INFORM THE SHELTER

The last week has been busy. Rocky was adopted, Blitz was adopted, one of the young kittens was adopted. Lucky dog is going in for his neuter and Magdalaine is warming up to people a little, she still does not like eye contact with new people and needs a lot of work and a grooming. Lucky's eye is healing nicely. The little black dog that does tricks has been named Jester and will be getting his exam soon. What a show off! We also have a new resident, He is an older Cocker cross who came  to us with a minor eye infection and an ear infection both infections are responding well to treatment. He is a sweet lovable dog around eight years old. He will be in quarantine until his eye and ear are better.
On another note, three young girls decided to do their own fundraiser for the shelter. They raised over six hundred dollars to go towards treats, medicine and food for the animals. The St. Paul Journal did a story and it should be in the paper in the next week or two. Way to go girls, being ten years old and having such compasion and commitment is to be commended. Big Thank you.
The Shelter's policy is not to do door to door campaigns or fundraisers and their fund raising effort through this means is over so if anyone comes to your door claiming to be raising funds for the animal shelter it has not been approved so call us and do not give them anything. Our fund raising is done through special events, booths, bingo's and other venues where the public comes to us.We made an exception for these three girls and they had a letter, picture identification, a receipt book and supervision. Some wonderful people do their own fund raising for the animals usually through home parties, or othre means, not door to door so again if anyone comes to your door claiming to be fund raising for us please report them as it is not legitimate.

Well, three more kittens and one dog were adopted yeah...Roxy went to Vancouver, she left Edmonton Thursday arriving home the same day. Her new person flew out to fly her back...what a good guy. Last update she had arrived home and was settling in very well, and is very happy...way to go Roxy. The kittens have new homes on a farm and are also doing well.
We are still full as a mom cat with kittens and another kitten came into the shelter this week. The dogs are begging for new homes before winter, they really don't want to spend Christmas at the shelter unless we cook them turkey...:)
Memberships and new Volunteer forms and cards are still available at the shelter.
We are going to the annual SPCA conference and hope to learn something it is this weekend...happy Thanksgiving and yes..the critters will all get some turkey this weekend.
